The climate crisis is the biggest story of our time. Want to help spread the word?
The YEARS Project (YEARS) is seeking a sharp and skilled short form video editor well-versed in Adobe Premiere to cut three to five short videos per week for release on social media. Videos will be in a mix of formats — some heavily reliant on text-on-screen, others narrated with no text, others with a presenter and a mix of text. All will incorporate material from our extensive footage library, other archival sources and occasionally fresh footage from the field. The videos are designed to be informative, provocative, emotional and above all… shareable.
The position requires the candidate to work independently under a team of writer/producers to cut videos that conform to our established verticals: CLIMATE FACTS, WE CAN SOLVE THIS, WAR ON OUR FUTURE, and TIME TO VOTE ON CLIMATE. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate in developing new formats and series. Skill in sourcing outside archival and AfterEffects is a must. Animation, data visualization or other graphics skills are a definite plus. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to handle a difficult subject matter at a fast pace, but also is creative and can think outside of the box and can innovate within the form. This is a 6-month freelance position based in New York City office and is open immediately.
THE YEARS PROJECT is a team of former 60 Minutes producers who have won a combined 13 Emmy Awards. We created the climate TV series YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY and established ourselves as the leading storytellers about climate change on television. Now we are doing the same on social. In 2019 our content has clocked nearly 1 billion views, more than the next seven climate organizations combined. Our Instagram and YouTube pages are seeing consistent double-digit growth, and our partner network has grown 200% in the last two years to reach 375 million people.
We have lots of new initiatives for 2020. Come join us to make them happen. Because the climate story has to be told. Now.
To apply: Please email your cover letter, resume and reel/sample work to administrator@theyearsproject.
