CLIMATE MEDIA INTERNSHIP - Social Media (PAID)
The YEARS Project [YEARS] is a 501c(3) nonprofit, Emmy award-winning media company focused on educating and engaging audiences to take action on climate change.
We are currently seeking passionate and talented candidates to participate in our 2025 remote internship program.
YEARS seeks qualified interns to master these tasks and more:
- Make contributions to and help populate our weekly climate media toolkit, INSIDE THE MOVEMENT (ITM)
- Scan for, filter through and analyze/synthesize daily climate news and information
- Possess a strong understanding and passion for social media and social strategy
- Assist with content strategy that utilizes best practices to balance trends, brand identity and educational posts
- Monitor climate content on social platforms
- Assist in the development of compelling, dynamic and creative content for all social channels employing YEARS tools and materials
- Support content engagement and platform growth of following on social media platforms
- Use analytical tools to track social performance and provide regular metrics reporting
- Program social scheduling software to ensure posts are consistently published at optimal times
- Possess familiarity with and/or a willingness to learn how to post on and manage the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, TikTok and Threads
- Write and edit copy for ITM and other projects
- Transcribe original interviews and log raw video footage
- Communicate and delegate tasks with fellow interns
Qualifications:
- You must be either a recent graduate or undergraduate pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university in one of the following or related disciplines: Environmental Science/Studies, Communications, Journalism, Film/TV/Digital Media.
- All applicants must have prior knowledge of or deep interest in climate change and/or YEARS' work, and must show a commitment to creating the best content about the subject using proven communications strategies.
- All applicants must have the ability to work via Zoom, Slack, email and phone during designated work hours. This is a fully remote internship.
- All applicants must be available for an approximate total of 16-24 hrs/wk during the windows of 9am-5pm ET, Monday-Thursday, even for those not in the eastern time zone. Some flexibility will be accommodated.
- Program length is between 6-9 months.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
- The internship is a paid position at $16.50/hour.
