Film audiences have embraced Nikki Reed since she stormed the industry with her award-winning 2003 breakout role in THIRTEEN. She has since become best known for her role as ‘Rosale Hale’ in the TWILIGHT SAGA. Reed has also appeared in small-screen programs such as “The O.C.” and as the original American flag maker ‘Betsey Ross’ on FOX’s historical fantasy television series SLEEPY HOLLOW.
Reed recently produced and starred in Thomas Dekker’s horror JACK GOES HOME, which premiered at the 2016 South by Southwest Film Festival. This followed her starring role in the indie film ABOUT SCOUT opposite Jayne Seymour, Ellen Burstyn and Danny Glover and the family drama A SUNDAY HORSE alongside Ving Rhames and William Shatner.
Reed earned three Teen Choice nominations for her role as vampire Rosalie Hale, appearing in all five movies: the original 2008 film TWILIGHT and its sequels THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE and THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, PARTS 1 & 2.
Among her first film projects, Reed starred opposite Alec Baldwin in MINI’S FIRST TIME, a twisted tale of a rebellious teenager testing the boundaries of life, and opposite Emile Hirsch and Heath Ledger in Sony’s 1970s surf-and-skate cult hit LORDS OF DOGTOWN. She launched her acting career at age fourteen as co-writer and star of the semi-autobiographical feature THIRTEEN, receiving wide critical acclaim including an Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance and a nomination for Best First Screenplay.
In addition to her thriving acting career, she is also recognized for her fashion sensibilities. She currently writes a recurring online beauty and nutrition column for Elle and recently collaborated with Freedom of Animals to launch a bag line that is made entirely from recycled plastic from the ocean and landfills. Prior, she served on People Magazine’s Stylewatch Style Council for two years and designed a jewelry line, Mattlin Era, which was sold exclusively online through Glamhouse and in-store at Seven For All Mankind.
Reed is a distinguished animal rights activist, primarily focusing on dogs, rescues and shelters. She has spent many years volunteering and supporting animal rescue programs, in addition to wildlife and environmental groups and mentoring programs focused on the education of disadvantaged youth. Reed serves as an ambassador for the Humane Society of the United States and won the 2014 Compassion Award for the ASPCA. She is also the Director of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and has helped to provide well over 200 grants to families who cannot cover the cost of surgeries for their animals. The foundation has an entire wing dedicated to saving rhinos in South Africa, which supports Reed’s powerful short film with Adrian Steirn and RYOT about the record levels of rhino poaching in that country. As if that wasn’t enough, Reed is also a founding member of Thrive Market, a groundbreaking online store with a mission to make healthy living easy and affordable for American families.
