Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed its version of a tax reform bill. The plan does several things that would be bad for the climate, including killing the tax rebate of up to $7,500 for individuals who purchase plug-in vehicles.
Electric vehicles could help the U.S. clean up its air and fight climate change, but the market for these cars is just getting started. The credit makes cars like the Nissan Leaf, the Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model 3 more affordable. That helps grow the market for EVs.
There’s some good news: the Senate’s proposed tax bill saves the EV rebate. And the House will have to reconcile the two versions before they can become law.
This week, act on climate by asking your Senators and Representative to save the tax credit for plug-in vehicles. Make the call today!
