On June 4, the youth climate lawsuit, Juliana v. United States, will be heard before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Portland, Oregon. This group of 21 young climate leaders is making the case that the US government, through its actions that cause climate change, has violated their constitutional rights to life, liberty, property, and equal protection of the law, as well as failed to protect essential public trust resources.
Our Children’s Trust, the non-profit supporting the lawsuit, wants to show the government that the citizens of the U.S. stand behind them. There are a few different ways you can show your support. First, you can tune into the livestream at 2:00 P.M. Pacific time, or host a watch party or teach-in. If you use social media, you can post about the hearing or share photos of your watch party using the hashtag #AllEyesOnJuliana.
If you’re in Portland or nearby, consider joining the rally in person.
Another way you can show support is by encouraging organizations or business to sign onto the Declaration of Support.
