This year, thousands of fires have been set in the Amazon Rainforest, all to clear land for agricultural development. How can we push for the end of this practice? By pressuring the buyers of forest products like soy and beef to make sure they’re not contributing to deforestation. We can also pressure the businesses we shop at to cut ties with producers who are notorious for financing agribusiness in the Amazon.
This week, act on climate by asking Stop & Shop and its parent company to cut ties with Cargill, the largest trader of soy from Brazil. You can sign the Mighty Earth petition below, and also consider tweeting or posting something like this to Facebook:
“Hey @StopandShop, please cut ties with Cargill and other groups that are financing rainforest destruction! https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/the-amazon-is-on-fire”
