Learn How To Break Up With Your Bank

This week, find out if your bank is funding fossil fuels—and if it is, learn how to find a better one.

Big banks have been funneling trillions of dollars into fossil fuel projects since the Paris Agreement. In the words of author and activist Bill McKibben, this money is the “oxygen on which the fires of global warming burn.” U.S. banks like Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi and Bank of America are some of the worst offenders, and if you bank with them, they’re using YOUR money to finance dirty energy.

Now is a good time to take your money out of those banks and divest yourself. Learn about how to break up with your bank and what alternatives are out there at the link below.

Changing your bank will send a strong message, but not if you do it in secret. Everyone needs to be doing this. So record a video of yourself cutting up your dirty bank’s credit card or ATM card. Challenge your friends, family and colleagues to do the same. Be sure to post the video with the hashtag #StopTheMoneyPipeline and tag the bank you’re leaving.

Doing all this will make the impact of moving your money that much bigger. For inspiration, you can watch Jane Fonda explain how it’s done
