Hey guys happy Sunday! I love this post because it shows the true power and influence of our youth! Every Sunday I donate my social media to my @YearsofLiving team to talk about carbon pricing! Take a second to read this post! Just 5 minutes could help you make THE DIFFERENCE the world needs.
As mentioned last week, there’s a lot of momentum to #PutAPriceOnIt in #Oregon!! The state is working to pass a new law that would limit climate pollution, and invest money back into clean energy for all Oregonians. Young people are helping drive the campaign to pass the bill, speaking up, telling their parents to contact state leaders to protect their future, and inspiring ALL of us to act on climate.
This week young people from across the state gathered in Oregon’s capitol to lobby to #PutAPriceOnIt. They met with lawmakers face-to-face to share personal stories of why acting on climate is so important to them – from safeguarding the future world they want to live in, to concerns for siblings with asthma or other health problems made worse by climate pollution, to fears that their generation may not have the same opportunities as those before them.
Students also hand delivered 6,000 petitions from Oregonians across the state to @oregongovbrown urging lawmakers to #PutAPriceOnIt. Here’s the photo of the kids delivering petitions to the Governor’s office!! Their lobbying efforts worked – later that day the bill was voted out of committee and is continuing to move through the legislative process. A huge congratulations to these passionate young people for convincing lawmakers to #actonclimate for their future, and ours!
