Many feel the current U.S. government is failing to protect public land and act on climate. In December, following what many would describe as “anti-environmental” actions, Trump announced his plan to reduce the size of two national monuments in Utah–a decision allegedly influenced by the fossil fuel industry. @Guardian reports that many outdoor brands have mobilized against environmental policy that threatens American public land. Companies like @Patagonia, @REI, @BlackDiamond and @TheNorthFace are stepping up as environmental leaders and activists in the wake of Trump. John Sterling, Executive Director of @ConservationAlliance, claims that actions during the new administration “have been a direct assault on the lands that mean so much to the outdoor industry,” and these companies are responding “at the scale of the threat.” What do you think about outdoor companies taking a political stance?
